Sources have reported that Jalen Hurts has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles, which will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The deal is worth $255 million, with $179.304 million in total guarantees, and includes a no-trade clause, a first in Eagles history.

Hurts can also earn an additional $15 million in incentives, bringing his potential earnings to $274.304 million through 2028.

The new deal was negotiated by Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, the current President of Football Operations for Klutch Sports Group.

The 24-year-old quarterback was a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and became the full-time starter in 2021, leading the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII. His third season was his best, with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions completed and 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

Hurts' contract guarantees are second only to Deshaun Watson's five-year, $230 million deal with the Browns, and only Watson and Russell Wilson had more money guaranteed at signing than Hurts' $110 million. The Eagles now have Hurts under contract for the next six years, while maintaining the flexibility to keep the team intact around him.
